What Does It Take?

Good morning Facebook family and friends. Grace is a blessing to have it is not something that we deserve but God gives it continuously. Every day He allows us to delight in the fact that He gives new grace and mercies to an undeserving world daily and never gets tired. This is such a wonderful privilege.

The world has become so technical. Technology is ever evolving at a pace that is getting so advanced that it is becoming addictive. We have become technology junkies. Today’s technology allows some to even work from home. We are able to bring our work home or take it on vacation. I was guilty of this on many occasions. Work is ever-present with us-except when the electricity goes out.

Several years ago we had an ice storm that covered the whole city in a glass-like glaze. Trees and branches fell, blocking roads, car doors were hard to get into, and it kept people home from work and school. The city was almost shut down. Power lines fell, leaving people in cold darkness, unable to accomplish anything that required electricity.

Whenever something like this interrupts my life, I realize that it sends me into a survival mode and reality sets in on how important my work (my inspirational postings) is to me. And how I tend to feel unimportant, unproductive, and useless because I am basically helpless. But God doesn’t want work to be that important to us, and we shouldn’t need a power outage to get us to stop and spend time with Him. In the Old Testament, God had a plan for getting His people to stop and pay attention to Him. It was called the Sabbath. On the seventh day of the week, they were to stop their work.

Although New Testament believers aren’t required to keep this law, rest is still important. Practicing a day of rest can keep us from the faulty belief that our work is more important than God’s. If we do not come apart and rest awhile, we may just come apart.

What does it take to make you stop and pay attention to God?

“Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest and the slave born in your household and the alien as well may be refreshed.” Exodus 23:12.

Live life, give people hope, share your heart, wisdom and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.

As always peace and blessings, be safe. Take advantage of your opportunities but never allow your opportunities to take advantage of you. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 4.15.16
