Good morning friends. My heart is heavy this morning. Not because I’m lonely or because of any loss of a loved one. But because I heard the cries of many in my meditation on the word of God this morning. I hear these cries because there are so many that said or think that they are saved, just because they go to church every now and then. Some are not saved they are just sheltered which is another state of mind. When things get rough (and they will) and Satan is attacking they don’t truly understand what is needed during these times. Which for many they don’t even understand the complexities of this buzzard’s attack.
You see this is a time where spiritual warfare is the defense that is warranted. But most don’t see or understand this because they don’t truly know God. Understand that just because you go to church it doesn’t make you a Christian, if you leave the physical building no better off than when you arrived. Or, you haven’t truly accepted Christ into your life. You go to church because the choir made you feel good or they are going to sing what you feel is your favorite song. Or the Pastor made your feel good because he only preaches about prosperity. Stay with me I’m trying to help someone this morning.
First of all if you haven’t accepted Christ then you’re not a Christian. The mire fact that you go to church does not make you one. Christian means to be Christ-like. Christianity is about your relationship with God, yourself and others. With the key point here being your relationship with God. There has to be a relationship. It’s not something that you can put on and take off like your clothes. Romans 12:2, says “and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” This means that when you are saved there is a transformation that begins. You stop thinking with the former mind you had and you start changing. This is a subject that I could elaborate on but I’ll move on.
I see so many that are in storms. They’re being hit from every side, being hit by strong winds, torrential rains and maybe even lightning. People are broken and being broken. Some have even given up. But you see it’s easy to give up especially during a storm when you don’t truly know or understand our Father. You can’t walk around with an “I” mentality, not studying His word, barely picking up your Bible unless it’s one of the Sundays you decided to go to church. But even then, it’s hard to find the scriptures or follow the Pastor when he gives them during his sermon, because you’re having difficulty finding the book that he’s in. You don’t even know that there are 66 books in the Bible because it’s not a book that you are regularly reading. You’re satisfied with treating God as something that is manageable so a little dab-a-do you!
Here’s how you can weather your storms. Truly turn your life over to God. You see there is nothing that “you,” can do without Him. God is not a god who is unforgiving. Everyone has a starting point when you totally surrender. None of us have the same time when we truly surrendered. But know this, God sees all and He knows about your storm. He’s always watching. He never sleeps nor slumbers.
Paul tells us in Acts 27, that he as a prisoner and others were battling storms his whole journey to be turned over to Caesar. Some wanted to jump ship but he persuaded them to stay on the ship. The ship eventually shipwrecked and those that could swim jumped overboard. The rest made it to shore on the broken pieces, thank you God. God says stop worrying about your brokenness or the broken pieces. What is being missed is the fact that they stayed in the ship. Even though they were afraid, didn’t know what was going to happen when the storm started. They stayed on the ship.
Even though your life may look bleak and dismal, and as if the rain will never stop, don’t jump ship weather the storm, giving God praise and thanks in the midst of it all. Because God is working it out for your good. Just hold on, trust, and believe. Do you truly know Him? Or do you know “of” Him? Get anchored in the one who speaks to the storms. The one that, even the winds and the waves obey. Stay in the ship.
Romans 12:2, says “and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Psalm 121:1-5, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel; shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.”
Acts 27:42-44, “And the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim away and escape. But the centurion, wanting to save Paul, kept them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should jump overboard first and get to land, and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land.”
Love life, give people hope, share your heart, wisdom and resources. Never put a period where God says there should be a comma.
As always peace and blessings, be safe. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 5.27.16
