Good morning Lovelies. Father God, I come before you with my heart filled with so many different thoughts and feelings. But even as I pray, I know you are right where you’ve always said you would be. You’ve never left me and you will never forsake me. You hear all my cries. In fact, as David wrote in Psalm 139, you know my thoughts before I even think them. You know exactly what is happening in my life and what will happen next. All things are in your control and nothing can happen apart from your will. Not a sparrow falls to earth without your willing it to and you know the number of hairs on my head. You are never surprised. Even about the issues in my life today. You know why this is happening and will use it for your glory and my good.
Forgive me for how I have worried about this situation. Forgive me for doubting your love and care in my life. Forgive me for my discontentment as I wait for what happens next. Forgive me for being impatient. Forgive me for not seeking after you and for allowing these circumstances in my life to seem greater than your grace and goodness. Create in me a clean heart. Help me to see the counterfeit love and idols in my heart. Help me to see all the things I cling to that I think will make my life happy and complete apart from you. Help me to repent and turn back to you and my one true love. In the Mighty, Matchless Name of Jesus, Amen!!
If I were to make a list of my least favorite things to do, I’m pretty sure waiting would rank in the top five. There aren’t many things I enjoy less than remaining in that distressing place of staring my hopes and longings in the face and wondering how, and when, and if God will ever allow them to come true. “Life’s a journey and God can teach us lots along the way if we’re willing to stop, wait and listen to him,” says Danielle Johnston.
We can assume that waiting is a time and place where things stand still, no movement or change is experienced, even leading us to think God has forgotten us. However, this time of waiting is significant to the journey, it’s not a full stop, but simply a comma or a pause. Time to stand still so we can hear God speak, time to reflect on life and allowing God to communicate his plans and purposes for ourselves, family and ministry. A season of opportunity to refine, redefine, see and input into those around us, knowing we will only see them if we give ourselves some breathing room.
Waiting is active and we are expected to engage. Waiting for God to speak and direct us should be a way of life – nobody gets out of it. So the question is not if we’ll wait but a matter of how we’ll wait. A period of waiting serves as a time of preparation. If God answered right away, many of us would be ill-prepared to handle His solution – we need to be expectant, anticipating eagerly the next part of the journey.
I am waiting for ____. You can fill in the blank. Most of us spend quite a bit of time in this season. So why do we dislike it so much? Why do we tend to view it as something negative? Why are we so eager for it to pass? Here’s one reason: because we are dissatisfied with our present circumstances, and we hope that the thing we are waiting for will satisfy us. Because we think that whatever we’re waiting for will make us happy
Why should we be content when we’re in a season of waiting? Because we’re looking forward to a change in our circumstances that’s going to make us happy? Finally, waiting is beneficial because it helps us to appreciate the value of what we receive. The key to thriving in a season of waiting is contentment and trusting that God has a good purpose in it.
You’re waiting for something good. You want it so badly you can taste it. But, it seems like time drags as you wait for your answer. To wait on God and trust Him in the process can feel impossible. Waiting wears down our patience, but God always uses those seasons to refine us and deepen our intimacy with Him.
Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Lamentations 3:25 The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
Live life, give people hope and share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma. As always peace and blessings, be safe. Take advantage of your opportunities but never allow your opportunities to take advantage of you. Remember God loves you and so do I. © krw 3.29.18
