Good morning beloved. When suffering strikes, remember that God is sovereign and that He can bring good out of everything. Do not try to run from pain or hide from your problems. God is always ever-present.
I know this sounds crazy, impossible or something that just can’t be done. But, follow me for a second. When a child is born, in order for a child to grow we have to give the child nutrients for there to be growth. We begin by giving the child milk and as the child grows we eventually get to solid foods not only are we giving them nutrients we are giving them the basics of right and wrong. We teach them these basics because we have hopes that it will also strengthen them into mature individuals.
This is also the process for new believers. They start off on milk in the word because their understanding is limited on what the word means or how to apply it to their lives. If they continue in the Lord, they eventually get to solid food. This just means that they have matured in the Lord. They have gotten away from doing the things that would be considered childish because now they are developed.
There are times when we go back to milk. These times are when we look at our situations and we doubt God can help us, God tells us to do something and we are not obedient, or we hear God and we act as if we didn’t hear Him. This list could go on but you get the jest of it. These are times when we have reverted back to milk. But, the most devastating thing is for some to never get past milk. They have experienced God’s grace and mercy and still turn their back on Him.
What this is saying is that you can make it without God that His Son dying on the Cross for us didn’t mean a thing to us, or that God’s love wasn’t genuine. Every time someone makes this choice they re-crucify Jesus. This is saying that He would have to die again and again because one minute you believe and the next minute you don’t. Your GPS system has shut down and no longer giving you direction. We never want the Holy Spirit to stop giving us directions.
We need our lives to reflect that we have become mature. We recognize right from wrong, we do what’s right, which is sometimes the hardest thing to do. It’s not hard to know right from wrong because we learn this when we learn the basics of life with Jesus. But, doing right is hard because our nature makes it so. So when we fall away from God as the scriptures mention, there are several things that take place. You may ask yourself how is Jesus being re-crucified? You don’t see how that can happen. Well, the scriptures tell me that this can happen. One is that Christ was crucified the first time to make His people pure and holy. That’s why He shed His blood. Hebrews 13:12 says, “Jesus also suffered outside the gate that He might sanctify the people through His own blood.” He died to sanctify us. He died to make us pure and holy and devoted to Him. So when we turn our backs on purity, holiness and devotion, which His cross was designed to bring about, we say yes to the dirtiness, materialism and unbelief that nailed Him there in the first place. Which means we crucify Him again.
There is another reason this kind of falling away is a re-crucifying of Christ. When a person chooses against Christ and turns back to the way of the world and the sovereignty of his own will and the fleeting pleasures of earth, he says in effect that these are worth more than Christ is worth. They are worth more than the love of Christ and the wisdom of Christ and the power of Christ and all that God promises to be for us in Christ. And when a person says that, it is the same as saying, “I agree with the crucifiers of Jesus.” Because what could shame Christ more today than to have someone taste His goodness and wisdom and power and then say, “No, there is something better and more to be desired.” That puts Him to a public shame.
Christians can be the guiltiest of anyone on earth of re-crucifying Jesus. You see those that have been enlightened and then have fallen away, they again crucify Jesus and put Him to open shame. It would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment delivered to them. This is what has happened to them according to the true Proverb, “a dog returns to its own vomit and a sow after washing returns to its wallowing in the mire.” (2 Peter 2:20-22) When you have been enlightened and have experienced the goodness of God, why would you want to be guilty of re-crucifying Jesus? He died once for everyone and everything you have done wrong or will ever do. You were crucified in His death; when you accepted Jesus don’t allow His death to be in vain!
“For it is impossible to renew to repentance those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift became companions with the Holy Spirit, tasted God’s good word and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, because, to their own harm, they are re-crucifying the Son of God and holding Him up to contempt.” Hebrews 6:4-6
Live life, give people hope, share your heart, wisdom and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.
As always, peace and blessings be safe. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 3.22.16
