Good morning friends. We all have trials and tribulations, we all have fallen and there are no guarantees that we will never fall again, but it’s what you do in those times of falling. Do you stay down and have a pity party or do you brush yourself off and get up. Ah, it’s what you do when you get up that your blessing may be in. Choose wisely what you choose to do.
We live in a world filled with noise-noise designed to sell, plead, seduce, and deceive. In the midst of this discord of sound, it’s easy to miss the one voice that means the most. This noise comes from a plethora of things too numerous to name. In recent years, the spread of personal digital devices that provide music, audiobooks, movies and the like, has resulted in studies concerning hearing loss.
The design of these devices and their earphones or earbuds, whichever you choose, have become the target for complaints and lawsuits. Long-term exposure to music at a high volume (as we hear rumbling through our neighborhoods blaring from cars) has been shown to cause serious hearing impairments. In a sense, too much hearing can result in an inability to hear.
Scripture teaches that Elijah listened to Jezebel’s threats and the voice of his own fear, so he fled to a cave to hide. While in this cave, he was confronted with the overwhelming noise of wind, an earthquake, and a fire. But, then the cave grew quite silent and the voice of the Lord-the only sound that mattered-broke through as a still small voice. (1 Kings 19:11-12)
If we are to hear God speaking to our hearts through His word, we need to pull away from the noise of the crowd, work, television, and the world. Only when we learn to be quiet can we really understand what it means to commune with God, the one who cares for us. In your “quiet time” today be still to the voice of God. To hear God’s voice turn down the world’s noise.
“And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!” Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.” Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again. And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God. And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” So he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.” God’s Revelation to Elijah, Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:1-12
Don’t miss this after all that, which seemed destructive, harmful or deadly, there was a small still voice more powerful than an earthquake, the wind, or a fire! Are you listening? Can you hear Him? He’s talking to you. Turn down the noise!
Live life, give people hope and share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.
