“Pray, Then decide”

Good Morning Lovelies. Waking up to another glorious morning. One filled with new graces and mercies from a loving God. I’m so thankful that the veil was ripped and now I can go directly to God in prayer for myself and others. Some just don’t realize how valuable and powerful prayer is. Morning prayer is a wonderful way to focus your time and attention on seeking God’s plan for the day ahead. Whether you need encouragement, peace, strength to make it through the day, or rest, God can meet you in a real and present way when you come before Him with a humble heart. Seek God’s presence each morning before your energy and attention are pulled by all the tasks that you may have ahead. Lord, may nothing separate me from You today. Teach me to choose only Your way today so that my steps are ordered by You, Lord. Lord, You know my faults and my flaws. Lord, thank You for allowing me to see a new day and the beauty of it. Despite sometimes forgetting to proclaim my thanks, I am overjoyed by the wonders around me. Thank You for my life. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen!

Prayer holds the power to center us and to guide us into the flow of the day. It also helps people keep an eternal perspective amid life’s chaos, reminding us of God’s power in both good and bad times. Life can get complicated. Various trials, tribulations and even victories can leave us looking for strength. It’s important to ask God to guide us, sustain us, and give us spiritual, physical, and emotional power to get through each day. It is so easy to focus on our own needs when we pray. But, praying for others is a way of covering them or standing in the gap for those that may not be in position of realizing who God is and what strength prayer has. I find that the more I pray the easier it becomes to pray and to start incorporating prayer into every aspect of my life. I find that even when I may be getting ready to cross a street or walk across a parking lot I find myself praying and then deciding to go.

There’s also a misconception that prayers have to be long. Not necessarily. Don’t get me wrong you don’t need to be cliché when praying but somethings you may only be able to utter a few words. I know that this was true for me when I was in a horrendous care accident in 2014. As my SUV went up in the air before coming down and flipping three times, I can remember that the only thing that I could say was Jesus! You know what? Just the mention of His name was prayer enough for God to hear me. I can remember it taking 45 minutes for the firefighters to cut me out of my car. They even had to tie a rope to the steering wheel, connecting it to the fire truck for them to pull it off of my legs. When they finally got me out of my car, I didn’t have a cut, laceration, or broken bones anywhere. To see me you would have said, “There is no way they just cut her out of that car,” the way it looked because it was totaled.

Prayer is significant in everything that we do. Friends, family, and coworkers alike have talked to me about different things that they may be wanting to do. Or, are torn thinking about how something may turn out. I’ve learned to listen and to know when and what would be the best response. But my first response is to always tell them to pray about it and then decide. It seems to always clear things up and if God doesn’t answer right away it doesn’t mean to stop praying. Prayer should not be turned into something mundane. Society has a lot of clichés and the phrase “Prayer Changes Things” is becoming one of them. This is a powerful phrase. And it confirms for me why we should always pray and then decide, because of the power and the truth in it. It should not be something haphazardly said just because it sounds good. One bad decision can greatly change an outcome. Sometimes it has generational effects all depending on what the decision is that needs to be made. While reading in the book of Joshua one of the key verses that impressed me was “They did not inquire of the Lord.” Joshua 9:14. The Israelites had entered the land of milk and honey and had destroyed several cities with all the people in it. But because they did not inquire of the Lord, they unknowingly broke a very important command that God had given them. We do the same. We want God to do for us but we don’t want to pray and talk to Him. The Israelites didn’t consult God and paid for this decision by being deceived by the Gibeonites. Because of the decision to not consult God they never saw the deception of the Gibeonites coming until it was almost too late. So are you truly praying about it or just deciding without prayer? This is like driving your car without gas. You won’t get very far. Father, please remind us to check with You before making decisions. Thank You that You will guide always us. Amen

Live life, give people hope and share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma. Add a teaspoon of compassion for those in need and pray that others follow your lead.

As always peace and blessings, be safe. Take advantage of your opportunities but never allow your opportunities to take advantage of you. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 1.9.19
