Good morning Facebook family and friends. Woke up singing this song. I need your glory, I want your glory, less of me and more of you is what I need. Show me your glory, show me your power, less of me and more of you is what I need. It is a blessing to always have a song on your heart when you think of God. My prayer is that you have a day filled with God’s power.
I have heard Jesus and God given so many nicknames. Names that are casually used as if He is just a common person or one who really has no importance. As if you are talking to a casual acquaintance. These names can be found on cars, bracelets, etc. For example the bumper sticker “Jesus is my co-pilot.” This bumper sticker may be a well-intented feeling, but it has always bothered me.
This is what I think about this so-called nickname for Jesus, whenever I’m in the driver’s seat of my life, the destination is nowhere good. Jesus is not meant to be just a spiritual “co-pilot” giving directions every now and then. He is always meant to be in the driver’s seat. Period! We often say that Jesus died for us, which of course is true. But there’s more to it than that. Because Jesus died on the cross, something inside us died-the power of sin.
It’s what Paul said when he said “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20) We were essentially co-crucified with Him. With Jesus in the driver’s seat, the old destinations should be off limits. No more turning down the streets of self-centeredness, greed, or covetousness. No more off road ventures into the swamp of pride or the ditch of bitterness. We were crucified with Him and He is at the wheel now!
He died so He alone can drive and characterize us. So if “you’ve” died with Christ and Christ lives in you, He’s not your co-pilot. Your joy is to let Him drive and define your life. There may be some bumps in the road, but you can count on it-Jesus’ destination is much better than any that we venture down. Are you still at the wheel of your life? Then it’s time to let Jesus drive.
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I, who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” Galatians 2:20-21
Live life, give people hope, share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.
As always peace and blessings, be safe. Take advantage of your opportunities but never allow your opportunities to take advantage of you. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 4.13.16
