Good morning Lovelies. God is pushing the pen again. I know that it has been a while since I have blogged and I came to you a few months ago stating that I would be back but, God instructed me to be still. It’s been hard but obedience is better than sacrifice. Just know that He is doing some great things so stay tuned. But in the meantime let me just drop this food for thought this morning.
As imperfect people, we struggle in our relationships. Whether we are a parent or child, single or married, we struggle with expressing love the right way. What’s the right way you’re probably thinking? Well, saying and doing the right thing at the right time is sometimes a fumbled ball. (Guess you can tell I’m a football fan. Lol) Ok, carrying on, we allow others to show us or try to tell us how we should love or show love. Have you ever felt perfectly loved? Like you were free to be completely yourself, without hiding or pretending, without fear of not being loved the same? Just totally able to be yourself and discover yourself and to share your thoughts and feelings, hopes and dreams? Have you ever seen love that was made perfect? Rare but it’s obtainable. My reasoning for saying it is “rare” is because often times we “feel” in love but never “fall” in love. We have a semblance of love but never really love. We fall for the feeling of love.
Love is not just an expressed feeling. It is deeper than that. I know people can be irritating at times. Trust me I’ve had my share of irritating people and probably have not come across the last one either. Just being transparent. The Bible says that we are to love one another, Sounds good, but can we do it? But loves, my question is “how do we make love a dominating characteristic of ours?”
Indeed loving people is difficult. Yet, the Bible, commands, “For this is the message you have heard from the beginning: we should love one another” (1 John 3:11). Even though we have the freedom to set our own priorities, Jesus made a point of defining certain ones for us. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and all your mind. This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt. 22:37-3).
Love, then, is not a gray area in the scriptures. Jesus gave love priority over all other Christian virtues. Every thought, response, and an act of goodwill must first pass through the fine filter of love, or it means nothing at all. Even Martin Luther King, Jr. realized this when he wrote “Strength to Love.” He encouraged us to realize that our responsibility as Christians is to discover the meaning of this command and seek passionately to live it out in our daily lives. We should grow in love throughout our lifetime.
As we walk with Him, keeping ourselves in is love and engrossing our mind in His Word, we’ll reflect more and more of His likeness. We’ll still make mistakes, but God is able to redeem them and cause good to come out of every situation, for His love “always protects” and it never fails. To show His Love Jesus died for us; to show our love, we need to live for Him!!!
Lord, our intentions are good but we fail each other in so many ways. Thank You for being our model in showing us how to live and love.
“Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” (1 Cor. 13:7-8)
Live life, give people hope and share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.
