“Grateful”

October 8, 2020

Good morning Lovelies. Father, life with You, Lord, is never dull. You show up so unexpectedly, even before we learn to seek You with all our hearts and all our minds. You are at work in our lives even now creating new ways we have never ventured down before. One of Your most fascinating characteristics. You are always in the process of taking what was is old and making it new. Father, we thank You for it all. In the Mighty Matchless Name of Jesus. Amen!

I remember a song that we used to sing when I was younger, probably in my teens. It was “this joy that I have, the world didn’t give it to me,” and then the chorus was “the world didn’t give it and the world can’t take it away!” But then when the “world” got hard on me, it seemed as though that song was lying! I would be so depressed and hurt by the world.

I would be so heavy and down because of what the world was doing to me! Yes, it got hard to believe that song. Then I would remember this scripture, and it seemed like the scripture didn’t make sense either. Being in my teens I really felt like this was a lie as well. I was like “God, the world can take it away!” But now, I have finally realized what the scripture meant and how to keep my joy. Even when things get bad and circumstances get out of control, there is a way to keep your joy in the midst of sorrow. God has provided us a way to stay focused on Him and His goodness rather than focus on the problems we face from day to day. And that is through thanksgiving! I’m not talking about the holiday coming up, but I’m talking about a spiritual connection that we make with God when we thank Him for all that He has done to get us to this point.

Giving God a good “thankYou” each morning can set your mind on what He did for you already. If you can focus on how His power brought you through hard times in the past, then you will already know that what you are facing now is no match for His power! Thanking Him will cause you to remember that in times past, He was always there to answer your prayers. There was not a time that God did not step in and rescue you. Sure, we got ourselves into a lot of bad situations and the wages of sin may have caused us pain and hurt. But we learned from those things and once we let them go, we could surely depend on God to always fix whatever we were facing. Just think back on all the times when you thought “this is it!” Or, ‘’this thing right here is gonna end it for me! God came through and said No!” “You can’t die, you can’t quit, you will make it, you will be what I said, and not what your circumstances say!”

God delivered you and set you free. He made your enemies go away. He made your problems a stepping stone. God was and is as faithful to you even when you weren’t faithful to Him. That is cause for gratefulness and thanksgiving. Give gratitude when you are going through and shift your focus to His power instead of sizing up the problem. Once you do that, you will remember that whatever you are facing is no more than what you have already come through. And if that be the case, then you already know that God can bring you out. So gratefulness and thanksgiving is the key to having joy in times of sorrow and hardships.

“And ye now, therefore, have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.”

As always peace and blessings, be safe. Love life, give people hope, and share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma. Take advantage of your opportunities but never allow your opportunities to take advantage of you. Remember God loves you and so do I. krw©10.8.2020
