Good Stretch

Good morning Facebook family and friends, the days are getting longer and the nights shorter since daylight savings but the joy of the Lord last forever and ever. This is the day that the Lord has made I will, we will, rejoice and be glad in it. God makes no mistakes.

Physical therapy is a painful necessity after having a shoulder replacement  surgery or any other replacement surgery for that matter. I recently went through this type of surgery. There was a period of being in a sling for weeks and not being able to move it, not even being able to shrug my shoulder. Then the therapy began. First,it was the flexing the wrist and elbow, no big deal, piece of cake. Then the outpatient physical therapy began. Now mind you my shoulder had not been moved much since the initial surgery and I am not able to really lift it on my own much. Part of my routine involved my therapist lifting my arm up in the air trying to get the flection back in the arm and shoulder.

While doing this he states, “Yes that was a good stretch.” My comment was “Really are you serious?” But what I’ve learned however is that it is important for me to stretch the muscles in the shoulder because they had to be re-positioned and some of them were even cut. This does end up causing me discomfort but it is all in the best interest of me gaining maybe not full range of motion but at least close to it. I shared all this to say this. While I was going through this therapy with my therapist, I realized that this was not the first time that my “therapist” had stretched me beyond my comfort zone.

God (my therapist) has also stretched me outside my comfort zone. It may have been when He urged me to share my faith with someone that I didn’t know very well, or to give an offering when I knew it was all that I had or giving one that was far beyond what I really gave. Or to confront someone about a situation that you know needed to be addressed but you didn’t want the confrontation. Abraham’s life illustrated the importance of faith when God asks us to move beyond our comfort zone and by faith Abraham was able to do what God had called him to do.

While we stretch our spiritual muscles God assures us that His grace is sufficient for us because His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Our adequacy or sufficiency is found in Him. When we boldly step out in faith and obedience to God you may be surprised at how a “good stretch” can strengthen your spiritual life. Don’t just wake in the morning and sit on the side of your bed and stretch thinking that it was the best stretch you could have. The best stretch that you can have is when our faith is stretch by exchanging our weakness for god’s strength. Now Reach!!!!!

“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Live life, give people hope, share your heart, wisdom and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.

As always peace and blessings, be safe. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 3.31.16
