Earthly Treasures or Heavenly Treasures”

Good morning Lovelies. Father God, I’m here today with open hands and an open heart, ready to depend on you to help me through the day and all it will bring my way. Help me to be more like You, help me come to You for guidance, strength, provision, and protection. As I face tough choices and hard situations, help me remember that I am Your child and Your representative to the world around me. Help me live today in a way that brings honor to Your holy name. In the Mighty, Matchless name of Jesus. Amen!

As I sit here and meditate on the Word of God, I think about how we as a society have become so materialistic, greedy if you will for power, prestige, money, and the like. Striving daily to only achieve these things and status. I think to myself if God were to tell you that you had to give up all these things to truly have a relationship with Him could we do it? Grant it some have more than others but could we do it? Would we worry about what others would say or think?

Sure there would be someone that would imply negative things about why you no longer have or look like you’re going down. But would it matter? Yes, these things made or make your life comfortable, give you prestige and sometimes power. But, to give up everything you own if Jesus asked you to would end it for some. Their very identity or security would be threatened so they think!

But what is being missed in this train of thinking is that to do so you would be so much more and secured if you followed Jesus! Jesus does not ask all believers to give up everything they have but He does want us to get rid of anything that has become more important than God. If your basis for security has shifted from God to what you own, then this is something that needs to be deleted from your presence or from your life. Could you do it?

“When Jesus heard this He said to him you still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven, then come follow Me. When he heard this he became very sad because he was a man of great wealth. Jesus looked at him and said, ‘How hard is it for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God. Indeed it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.” Luke 18:28-35.

So what’s your focus on today? Is it on earthly treasures or heavenly treasures!!!

Live life, give people hope and share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.

As always peace and blessings, be safe. Take advantage of your opportunities but never allow your opportunities to take advantage of you. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 4.24.18
