Good morning Lovelies. Today is the day that the Lord has made. You will never have this day again so let’s make it count. No matter how your day may have been yesterday today is a new day. This message is to remind you that you are beautiful, talented and one of a kind. No one can stop you from doing anything that is on your mind. You may have had a bad day, you may have had a good day. But no matter what hang in there because better days are coming.
You can always tell when you’re headed into a bad day. But let me as you this question: “how do you know when you’re going to have a good day? I’m not talking about a promise of sunshine every day, or of everything going your way. There are no guarantees of sunshine or laughter in this life of ours. But are there some things we can do to make every day-even bad days-better? The Bible says there is. There’s a recipe for better days in the Word that we can use to have those better days.
Some of the ingredients in this recipe may be hard to come by but if we search for them they can be found. We just have to know where to look for them. Three key ingredients to use are controlling what we speak. So often we speak negative words that end up affecting whether our days are good or bad. Often we don’t realize that our words don’t speak life to our situations. Secondly, we can make a conscious effort to do the right things. Doing good instead of evil. The evilness in the world is getting more and more treacherous, but we can seek after peace and pursue it. The word says that peace can be had even amidst the chaos of everyday life. Psalm 34:12, “Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days.”
The place to begin to have better days is with our mouth or more specifically, with the words that come out of our mouth. This is where most of us cause the most trouble not just for others but for ourselves. How many times has our mouth got us in trouble with your significant other, your parents, your kids, your friends, your boss, teacher, and enemies? Sometimes we just need to pray, “Lord keep my mouth shut.” Or, “Lord, help e to speak only words that heal, bless, help and encourage.
I think about how on many occasions as a kid, my mother told me to watch my mouth. I always wondered what she meant. But as an adult, I get it now. Because life and death are in the power of the tongue. While this is going on we also have to deal with the voice of temptation and how real it is. Every day you and I face choices between doing right or doing wrong. Most of us know the difference between right and wrong. Decisions are made about whether you will turn from evil to do good, or turn from good to do evil. Those choices affect whether you have better days or not.
Life is about making choices, and then living with the consequences of the choices we make. Make bad choices, you live bad days; make good choices, you live with better days. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will reap.” Galatians 6:7. Many times we make the mistake of believing that we can do wrong and get by. We say and think things such as nobody knows, nobody was hurt, I can get away with it. But the choices you make today will affect you tomorrow-and most likely affect you for a long time after that. Have you ever noticed the truth of that old saying, “what goes around comes around?” That person you spoke ugly to in the store the other day shows up at church next Sunday looking for a nice friendly place to worship the Lord. But let’s be realistic, it’s not always easy to say no to evil and yes to good. Sometimes impossible to do right instead of wrong. “No temptation has overtaken you except such as common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Just as we need to ask God for His help with our words, we also need His help to do right. He won’t make your choices or decisions for you, but He will help you do good and not evil if you ask for His help. Simply doing what’s right will bring better days. With God’s help, you can have peace with God and peace with everybody else-definitely part of the recipe for better days.
Live life, give people hope and share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.
As always peace and blessings, be safe. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 01.03.19
