Good morning friends. We should still be in a mode of thankfulness every day. I pray that God’s peace and blessings befall on everyone. Have a blessed to be a blessing day.
Have you ever watch a bee pollinating from flower to flower? It seems to not have a care in the world. You wonder just what is really going on with this bee. The honeybee has one of the most highly developed social structures in the animal kingdom. At the heart of the hive, which may house as many as 80,000 bees, is the queen. Without her the colony has no future. But 80,000 don’t just sit around watching their queen. Each bee has a specialized duty to fulfill. I know some of you are probably wondering what this has to do with anything, but follow me for a minute.
Each bee not only has a specialized duty but they have a specialized name. The “forager” bees encounter the perils of the outside world to collect food. The “guard” bees protect the hive’s entrance from intruders. The “undertaker” bees are responsible for removing the dead bees from the hive. The “water collector” bees bring in moisture to regulate humidity. The “plasterer” bees make a form of cement to repair the hive. And the “fanner” bees station themselves at the entrance and fan the scent outward to signal the location of the colony to lost or disoriented bees. The “scout” bees keep the hive alerted to opportunities and dangers of the outside world. The variety and specialization of the “worker” bees seems endless.
Now after reading this, you can see how similar we are in this way. The Lord has given special gifts and tasks to all the people in His church. No one has been called to merely sit around. Everyone can do something. The work of the church will not get done unless all of us do what God has called us to do. The church works best when we see ourselves as participants not spectators. Your call is higher than your circumstances. Jesus builds His church and makes it strong using you and me and if we all do our part the world will see God’s love for us all. Are you a participant or a spectator?
“Spiritual Gifts-Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. One Body with Many Members-For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.” 1 Corinthians 12:1-18
Live life, give people hope and share your heart, wisdom, and resources. Never place a period where God says there should be a comma.
As always peace and blessings, be safe. Take advantage of your opportunities but never allow your opportunities take advantage of you. Remember God loves you and so do I. ©krw 4.30.16
